Aetheros Offline
The helper app that runs Studio's heavy work on your computer: rendering, reading your project folders and long jobs. Nothing is uploaded.
Why it is needed
The parts a browser tab cannot do
A browser tab cannot run a full renderer and ffmpeg on your files, read a project folder by its real path, or keep a long job going after the tab closes. Aetheros Offline does those things, and only those, for the Aetheros pages you allow.
Everything else stays in the browser. Studio works without the helper for planning, finding pictures and Clips; the helper adds the parts that need the computer.

Step 1
Install
- Check that your Mac has Apple Silicon: Apple menu › About This Mac shows Chip: Apple M…. A Mac that shows Processor: Intel cannot run Aetheros Offline.
- Download the .zip and open it: it becomes Aetheros Offline in the same folder. Drag it to Applications.
- Open it from Applications. macOS says "Aetheros Offline" Not Opened, or that Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This is expected, because the app is not signed with an Apple developer certificate yet. Click Done.
- Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll to Security. Next to "Aetheros Offline was blocked to protect your Mac", click Open Anyway, confirm with your password or Touch ID, then click Open. On macOS 14 and earlier, right-click the app in Applications › Open › Open does the same.
- The Aetheros monogram appears in the menu bar, top right. The app asks once whether to start at login: say yes, so Studio always finds it.
You do this once per version: macOS asks again after each update until the app is signed by Apple.
Download Aetheros Offline only from aetheros.online. If macOS says the app is damaged, delete it and download it again.
Step 2
Pair it with Studio
- In Chrome or Edge, open Studio, open a project, then the Workspace view and B-Rolls.
- Studio finds Aetheros Offline by itself and shows Allow in Aetheros Offline. Click it.
- The first time, the browser asks to let aetheros.online access other apps and services on this device. Click Allow: the page can then talk to the helper on your computer, and nothing else.
- Aetheros Offline asks Allow aetheros.online to render on this computer? with the browser's name. Click Allow. Studio says "Aetheros Offline paired".
- On the first render of a project the helper finds the project's folder by itself. When it cannot (a disk it cannot search), it asks you to choose the folder: pick the project folder, or the folder that contains your projects.
- When the window does not appear (remote desktop, a full-screen app), use Pair with a code: in the helper's menu, Paired browsers › Pair with a code…, then type the six digits in Studio.
Safari and Firefox cannot pair: they block pages from reaching apps on the computer.

Before you ask
Do I need it?
For B-roll in Studio, yes. Planning, Find, Cover and Clips work in the browser.
Does it run on my Mac?
On Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 and later). Macs with an Intel processor are not supported.
Why does my system warn me?
The app is not signed with an Apple or Microsoft developer certificate yet. The warning appears the first time you open each version, and the install steps above get you past it. The SHA-256 checksums on this page let you confirm that your file is the one published here.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Video and project files stay on your computer. Studio's planning text goes to the Aetheros service, as it does without the helper.
Which folders does it read?
Only project folders you choose, or folders it finds by their Studio catalogue file (aetheros-studio.json, aetheros-assets.json before 17 October 2026) with the same project id. It writes only inside a project's 03 Story, 04 Graphics and 06 Edit folders.
How do I stop it?
From the menu bar (Mac) or the notification area (Windows), choose Quit. Start at login can be switched off in the same menu.
How do I update it?
The app checks twice a day and shows "Version x is ready" in its menu; Check for updates… asks straight away. Download opens the file for your system: replace the app (Mac) or run the new installer (Windows), then confirm the security warning once more. Updates are never installed automatically, because that needs signed builds.
Studio says the helper is not running
Open it from Applications or the Start menu. If you also run Studio's worker from a terminal (pnpm studio), quit it: both use the same port.
The Allow window never appears
Use Pair with a code, described in step 2.
Your computer, your files
What it reads and what it never does
- It runs on your computer and listens only to this computer (127.0.0.1, port 8791). Other devices on your network cannot reach it.
- It answers only the Aetheros pages you allowed, one browser at a time. Paired browsers › Forget removes one.
- It reads only the project folders you choose or that it finds by their Studio catalogue file, and writes only inside their
03 Story,04 Graphicsand06 Editfolders, without overwriting any file. - It never uploads your files. Clip pages written by the assistant run in an isolated window with no network and no file access, and every attempt is logged on your computer.
- It keeps its settings, a seven-day job history and seven days of logs on your computer, with nothing from your videos in them.
- It checks aetheros.online twice a day for a new version by reading one public file. The request carries no identifier; like any web request, the hosting sees your IP address and a user agent with the app's version and your system.
- The builds are not signed by Apple or Microsoft, so both systems warn the first time you open each version. Download it only from this page, and compare the SHA-256 when in doubt.
- macOS: Apple Silicon only. Windows: 10 and 11, 64-bit.
- It is free to download and provided as is, in early access. B-roll needs Studio PRO. The B-roll you render is yours, and you remain responsible for your footage and the rights in it.
Uninstall
macOS: quit the app and drag it from Applications to the Bin. To remove its data too, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Aetheros Offline and ~/Library/Logs/Aetheros Offline.
Windows: Settings › Apps › Aetheros Offline › Uninstall, or the uninstaller in the Start menu. Tick "Remove my settings" to delete %APPDATA%\Aetheros Offline as well.
